Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year

Greetings Parents and Guardians:

On behalf of the staff at Allgood Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience 2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers

3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills

4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life 5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college

Please visit our Parent Center (room 100) and consider volunteering (as needed). Our Parent Liaison is Mrs. Brenda Edison, and she is eager to hear from you. See Ms. Edison about how to gain access to Infinite Campus so you can monitor your child’s grades and progress in school via the internet at anytime. We also invite you to join our PTA. The membership fee is $7. This year we welcome Ms. Alysha Quinn to the role of PTA President. Ms. Quinn has expressed her excitement about supporting the Allgood family in her new position.

Please review the following important information:

v FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL- MONDAY AUGUST 7, 2017

v Uniforms are mandatory-

v Afterschool Program-We will have an afterschool program beginning August 7, 2017 from 2:30pm-6:00pm. Registration begins July. Call the front office (678-676-5102/03) for more details.

v PBIS Starbucks Incentives-PBIS is a school-wide behavior incentive program that stands for Positive Behavior Incentives and Support. We expect for all students to exhibit excellent behavior each day at all times in order to receive Starbucks to be redeemed at our School Incentive Store.

v SAFETY AND SECURITY- all parents and visitors must sign in at the front office and get a visitor’s sticker when coming on campus.

v REGISTRATION- Registration will take place Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a. m to 12:00 p.m.

v ITEMS NEEDED FOR REGISTRATION: Birth certificate or proof of guardianship, social security card, certificate of eye, ear, and dental examination (GA form 3300-GA-DHR), Certificate of immunization (GA form 3231), photo ID of the parent or guardian enrolling child, proof of residency, and withdrawal records from previous school, including last grade placement.

v TRANSPORTATION- Bus route information for Allgood is located on the DeKalb County School District website. Once on the website, go to Allgood’s webpage, and click on the bus icon to see the bus routes for Allgood Elementary.

v AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM- We are continuing to register students for our after school program. Check our website for more details.

v PTA- The PTA provides tremendous support to enhance the instructional programs of a school. Please come to Open House prepared to join PTA with a $7.00 membership. Help us reach 100% participation and sign up as a Volunteer. PTA is you!

v “ATTEND-DANCE” – School success begins with perfect attendance. Attending school daily and arriving on time impacts how a student begins the day and how much cumulative instructional time they receive. At Allgood Elementary, students who attend school on time each day are invited to attend the monthly “ATTEND-DANCE” in recognition of their perfect attendance each month.

v Cafeteria: Breakfast Cost: $1. 40 Lunch Cost: $2.50

Free/Reduce Lunch Application are available on the district website.

v Parents please note that Free/Reduced Lunch Applications must be resubmitted each year.

School Day Begins at 7:10 a. m. and ends at 2:10 p. m.

Breakfast is served from 7:10 a. m. until 7:30 a. m.

The instructional day begins at 7:45 a. m.
