History

Allgood Elementary School is located at 659 Allgood Road in a residential area in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The area is urban in nature and is considered part of the metropolitan Atlanta area. Allgood opened its doors for the first time in 1955 with a student population of 325. The student population has fluctuated over the years up to approximately 650. However, the current enrollment is approximately 550. During the 1996-1997 school year, a multi-purpose building (gymnasium) and additional classrooms were constructed to accommodate the growing community.

A neighborhood school, Allgood Elementary School, continues to generate a proud heritage of providing a quality education to the Stone Mountain and Pine Lake communities. Allgood provides a quality education for all students. The student population consists of 90% of African American, 3.3% Asian, 2.5%Hispanic, .089% Multi-racial and 2.86% Caucasian. Approximately 21 languages are spoken at Allgood Elementary. Our student population is comprise of 8.7% of Students with Disabilities (SWD), 6.09% English Language Learners (ELL), and 5.01% Gifted students. We also have one parttime ELL teachers to support our English Language Learners (ELL) students. Due to 89% of the student population receiving free and reduced lunch, Allgood has qualified to be a Title I school. There are approximately 86 faculty and staff members employed at Allgood Elementary.
